KIYAMET 64
A Doom-style game for the Commodore 64.
An attempt at Doom on the Commodore 64. The 1 MHz CPU draws 10 to 20 frames a second, which is enough to play. The levels are converted from the first three Freedoom maps, with the monsters, items and secrets where the maps put them.
- There are two kinds of monster. Imps throw fireballs and claw at you up close. Zombies shoot from a distance. You start with a pistol; once you find the shotgun, things get a lot easier.
- Some doors only open with the blue, yellow or red key. Doors close again by themselves a few seconds after they open.
- Stepping into the green pools costs health. Some walls are really secret doors: their texture is a little different from the walls around them, which you can spot up close. Walk through one and the screen says “GIZLI ALAN!” (secret area); there is usually ammo or health inside.
- There is a Doom-style face at the bottom that looks worse as your health drops.
Hopens the map, which fills in as you explore. At the end of a level you get your time and the kill, item and secret percentages.RUN/STOPpauses. - The difficulty levels are named after Turkish drinks: warm milk before bed, a glass of tea, and black Turkish coffee. Pick the last one and the game warns you there is no sugar in it. Each level ends with a password for the next one, which you can enter on the title screen with
S. - The music and sound effects were written for this game. A few of the Doom cheat codes work too.
